Human Terrain System

NSI is supporting several clients to manage state-of-the-art human terrain initiatives that seek to dramatically improve the gathering, interpretation, understanding, application, and sharing of local socio-cultural analysis and knowledge that is lacking in today’s military. Understanding local cultural, political, social, and economic factors is crucial to successful 21st century military campaigns tactically, operationally, and strategically. NSI is supporting the development, integration, testing, training, fielding, and deployment of an advanced socio-cultural analytical toolkit that is geospatially-temporally-relationally referenced and that provides a comprehensive socio-cultural assessment of the human terrain in a foreign region. The toolkit will facilitate assembling, analysis, archiving, and application of socio-cultural information relevant to the unit commander’s operational situational understanding and decision-making process.
