Biography: Dr. T. X. Hammes is a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Institutes for Strategic Studies. His current research focuses on the changing character of warfare. He served 30 years in the Marine Corps to include command of an infantry battalion, an intelligence battalion, and the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force. He served in Somalia and Iraq and trained insurgents in various locations. He is the author of three books and over 200 articles. Hammes holds a Doctorate in Modern History from Oxford University.
