Description: NSI supported the DARPA ICEWS program as part of its Government team. ICEWS developed a comprehensive, integrated and automated, system to monitor, assess, and forecast national, sub-national, and international crises in a way that supports decisions on how to allocate resources to mitigate them. ICEWS provided Combatant Commanders (COCOMs) with a powerful, systematic capability to anticipate and respond to stability challenges in the Area of Responsibility (AOR); allocate resources efficiently in accordance to the risks they are designed to mitigate; and track and measure the effectiveness of resource allocations toward end-state stability objectives, in near-real time.
In addition, related to ICEWS, NSI supported the DARPA Conflict Modeling, Planning and Outcome Experimentation (COMPOEX) program where we provided research, analysis, design, and development of a new simulation technology for projecting the decision dynamics of leadership groups and the impact of social influence and outside intervention on those decision dynamics. Services provided include basic research of the dynamics to capture in the simulation; mathematical design of the simulation model; simulation programming and software development; and integration of the simulation.
